THIS MISFIT FITNESS TRACKER REALLY MADE THIS OVER 50 S GAL SHINE!

As a 63 year old certified personal trainer specializing in Senior Fitness, I am always on the look out for the latest in wearable technology that my less tech-oriented clients and readers will be able to use and understand the functionalities.

download-4Today I was looking at the Misfit website and found the Misfit Shine that might be perfect for those people who are still in the learning curve of technology or just want the benefits of wearable technology without the work of figuring out how to use them.

First off, I would like to say that my generation – the over 50’s, while we are a pretty cool bunch of people, we can be lazy – and in saying that sometimes it’s easier to just say you can’t keep up with all the technology these days and like to have someone else figure out your phone or your internet or whatever – but that’s the point, we all have technology – so to the over 50’s who are digging in their heels over change all I can say is “Get Over It” .  Technology and now wearable technology are here to stay and they are making my life so much easier and so much more fun.

This is me – The actual Maggie Thaden  doing my 1 hour in the gym :)

For instance, I love my fitness, I work out everyday, and now I love the latest technology by Misfit – it’s the Misfit Shine fitness tracker that is worn on the wrist, It tracks my steps, my calories burned, all of my physical activity and my sleep.  The MisFit Shine can supposedly even recognize what activity I am doing, for example, whether I’m swimming, bicycling, playing tennis, or golf, which is a fun way to see whether four hours having a round of golf burns as many calories as a one hour workout in the gym – I for one am interested to find out.

I also love the design of the MisFit Shine, the colors are quite nice, grey, silver or black aluminium, although I would prefer if they also had one with more colorful bands that you can change around, but that’s just me.  The MisFit Shine battery lasts for about 6 months and is easily replaced so for those over 50 that means you don’t have to plug it into your laptop.

So, would I buy one – I sure would — I think it would be fun to keep track of my activity and especially those calories, and for those on a diet, it couldn’t be more handy than to have the information literally at your fingertips.
